In the blink of an eye, Barry Can’t Swim has gone from a rising talent to a firmly established name on the UK dance scene, putting Scotland firmly back on the global electronic music map. Having started playing piano in childhood, the Edinburgh-based DJ and producer known to his friends as Joshua Mainnie, found his true calling while studying music at university. His first two EPs, Amor Fati (2021) and More Content (2022), were impressive showcases of his talent for crafting beats and samples. His debut album, When Will We Land?, was released in 2023 by the acclaimed independent label Ninja Tune and received widespread acclaim. As he prepares for the next chapter, his growing reputation is set to expand well beyond his homeland.
