Quiet and unassuming in private but revolutionary in his approach to music, Dan Snaith (aka Caribou, Daphni, or Manitoba) is an unconventional hero of modern electronic music. With an uncommonly genuine generosity, this maths grad actively supports emerging artists, inviting them to open for him or offering valuable contacts and advice. Unintentionally, this London-based Canadian has become a mentor to a grateful new generation, from Mount Kimbie to Ela Minus. A close friend of Four Tet – who encouraged him in his early days – and Floating Points, he sees live performance as a space for real-time creation. Rather than standing alone behind his machines, he prefers to surround himself with musicians as exceptional as he is.
