With the noble goal of getting us dancing while reviving an underrated musical genre, Dabeull seems to relish every moment he spends on stage. This Parisian has chosen to express himself through the medium of funk, always with a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humour. One look at his promo photos – lounging in a black satin robe, champagne flute in hand, surrounded by candles, grapes and his trusty synth – is enough to see that success (with streams in the millions) hasn’t gone to his head. Released last year, his album Analog Love was recorded on the very console used for the legendary Thriller and proudly proclaims his boundless love for the analogue sounds of the Seventies and Eighties. Resistance is futile against this endlessly swaying, hypnotic groove.
