TALK "EN SPORT, COMMENT TROUVER LE BON TEMPO?"

TALK "EN SPORT, COMMENT TROUVER LE BON TEMPO?"

Saturday 24 Aug / 16:00 - 16:45
WITH MARINA CHICHE AND CHRISTOPHE LEMAITRE

Whether in a competition or a concert, how do you find the right tempo?

It’s not unusual for top sportsmen and women, especially swimmers and runners, to listen to music during their training sessions. This is because the tempo of certain tracks corresponds exactly to the frequency of the movements they have to perform. From then on, these champions are like concert performers, united in the same quest for an ideal tempo, adapted to their own qualities, and guided by the same hope, that on the day of the competition or performance, they will be able to perform to perfection a score that they have rehearsed endlessly. But do an athlete and a musician share a similar obsession with rhythm? Do they sometimes fear losing it by trying so hard to control it? Can they change their pace to suit the circumstances? When all is said and done, does the notion of performance necessarily rhyme with that of cadence?

With violin rock star Marina Chiche and Christophe Lemaitre, a young retired sprinter and multiple Olympic medallist.
