TALK "ET APRES, C'EST QUOI LA SUITE?"
Saturday 24 Aug / 17:30 - 18:15
WITH THIERRY REY AND PIERRE RABADAN
This is the dilemma faced by all top athletes: what to do after their sporting career? How do you reinvent yourself for a successful life afterwards? How do you rediscover a taste for life when you’ve soared to the heights of gold medals and other adrenalin-fuelled podiums? In this area, France has often been singled out for its lack of support. Abandonment, loneliness, trauma: sportsmen and women are looking for better ways to prepare for their career transition. Thierry Rey, Olympic champion in Judo, has had many experiences, on stage as an actor, on TV as a commentator and in politics as a sports advisor to François Hollande. Pierre Rabadan has had a similarly flamboyant sporting career, as a rugby XV player, third row and multiple French champions. Now an advisor to the Mayor of Paris, he is one of the architects of the Olympic Games. How have their careers as athletes helped them? How can we help our champions plan their career transition with peace of mind?
