TALK « LES CORPS PEUVENT-ILS ETRE MILITANTS? »

Friday 23 Aug / 16:45 - 17:30
WITH MICHAEL JEREMIASZ AND NOLWEN BERTHIER

Nudity, dance, disability: throughout history, bodies have been both objects of oppression and weapons of struggle. Here, each in their own way, their bodies have become an extension of their struggles. Whether it’s hanging from a plane tree to denounce the A69 motorway project, climbing cliffs to defend biodivervisit, or fighting against validism, all three are campaigning for a committed practice in the service of causes. Why use your body to fight for something? What do bodies have to say about collective efforts? Is the body just another political object?

With Olympic medal-winning parathlete Michaël Jeremiasz and climbing champion Nolwen Berthier.

Nolwen Berthier

CLIMBING CHAMPION

Having grown up in the city, Nolwen started climbing competitively. After 10 years with the French national team and a degree in energy and environmental engineering, she discovered the crags of southern France and became the 6th woman in the world to climb a 9a+. Today, she is a professional climber and uses this image to involve as many people as possible in protecting the living world. She also supports major French organisations in their transformation towards more sustainable models and practices.
